Jed Ruccio

Jed has been practicing law for over 20 years. He helps clients with construction and real estate matters, goods and services contracts, and dispute resolution. His clients have included landlords, general contractors, subcontractors, developers, designers, schools, utilities, retailers, manufacturers, condominium associations, and homeowners.


Prior to founding Ruccio Law, Jed was Chief of the Bid Protest Unit in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office, a partner at a real estate law boutique, and the head of the construction group at a nationally ranked east coast law firm.  


Jed is a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Hingham. He is a former Co-Chair of the Infrastructure Council of the Urban Land Institute of Boston/New England. He has been named an Empire State Counsel Honoree in recognition of his pro bono service, which has included family law and immigration work for Kids In Need of Defense (KIND).

Recent Representative Matters*

Dispute Resolution

  • Representing designer in litigation concerning hotel owner's approximately $30 million claim regarding alleged design and construction defects.
  • Successfully defended landlord in tenant's appeal before Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. CP 200 State, LLC v. CIEE, Inc., 488 Mass. 847 (2022)
  • Brought breach of contract and bond claims on behalf of subcontractor in federal court. Achieved cost-effective settlement for client.
  • Defended contractor from litigation claims brought by homeowner alleging defective work and project abandonment. Settled the matter entirely with funds obtained from an insurer.
  • Defended trustees in connection with over 30 allegedly defamatory statements and settled all claims entirely with insurance funds after bringing a motion for summary judgment.


Transactions

  • Template construction and architect agreements for supermarket's yearly projects to renovate and construct stores.
  • Leasing documents for real estate investment, development and management company.
  • General contracts and subcontracts for homebuilder.
  • Operating agreements for developer’s limited liability companies.
  • EPC agreement for installation of solar panels on rooftops of apartment complex.

Frederick "Rick" Casavant, IV

Frederick (“Rick”) C. Casavant, IV is a Partner with the firm and has been practicing since 2008.  Rick is licensed in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.  He represents clients in all aspects of real estate, including title clearing, residential and commercial conveyancing, condominiums, land use, zoning, alcohol licensing, and foreclosure.  Prior to joining Ruccio Law, Rick was a partner in a Massachusetts law firm that specialized in real estate and condominium/community association law. 


Rick is currently Chair of the Pembroke Zoning Board of Appeals and served on the 2023-2024 Pembroke Master Plan Committee.  


Rick lives in Pembroke, MA with his family where he volunteers his time coaching and serves as president of the Pembroke Youth Hockey.
